Let the smell of freshly baked biscuits lead you on an appetising journey to the local, historical and charming cassava biscuit factory known as Domaine Les Délices. The ancestors of the Rault – Sénèque family, who settled in Mauritius in 1807 and developed an exceptional recipe for cassava biscuits, established this family-owned biscuit factory 140 years ago in Mauritius. Launched on the local market in 1870, the cassava biscuits have gained much popularity and are now well known around the world for its delicious flavours.

The family have carefully kept the ancestral philosophy alive and today, many of the original equipment used 140 years ago are still in use, such as the antique scale and the traditional oven that date way back to the beginning of the factory.

  • Biscuit Factory
Visited this small biscuit factory down at Mahebourg today - Wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However we were pleasantly surprised as the method being used to make the biscuits is certainly interesting. They use a flour made from a root, and the biscuits are cooked on a hot plate that is fired from beneath using palm leaves for fuel. We enjoyed tasting the different varieties on offer and purchased some from the shop to take home

  • Have been doing this for 140 years, living history!
Totally enjoyed my trip here and DO like the biscuits. Relaxing, interesting tour, great tea break afterwards. Wife thought this would be an odd visit, but then loved the photos and wished she had come along!
